How to Make an HDR
I will not be using the HDR I made for this project, this was just practice and an exercise in something new. The images used were taken by Josh Shelton
1: Take multiple photos at different exposures.
2: Open PhotoShop. Go to “File“ -> “Automate“ -> “Merge to HDR Pro…“ After clicking, a window will pop up.
3: Browse for the photos and hit “Okay“
4: After a moment, a new file is created and another window will open, showing the result of the images being merged. In the top right corner, make sure the Mode is changed to 32 Bit, turn on Remove ghosts, and turn off Complete Toning in Adobe Camera Raw. Click “Okay“ when done.
5: Finally, the image is merged. For this project, we need to make an HDR that can be applied to a sphere to create a world dome. To do this, make sure to crop the image so that the edges meet the edges of the chrome ball that was photographed.
Saving: When saving, make sure the file is 32 Bit, go to “File“ -> “Save As“. Be sure to that the Save Type is Radiance.
That is about it.
